The NGSS program is guided by a statement of purpose (what we’re doing) and a set of principles (how we’re doing it). Purpose keeps us focused. Principles shape decisions at every level of the program. The order of the principles is meaningful. When, inevitably, principles are in tension, the higher-ranking principle carries greater weight.

Deliver superior tools and processes so students—and those who teach, advise, and support them—can perform academic and financial tasks easily and effectively.

Principles:

1. Adopt tools and processes that ensure regulatory compliance and information security.
2. Make the user’s experience engaging and satisfying.
3. Support academic diversity and interdisciplinary programs while limiting customization.
4. Automate and standardize for efficiency and compatibility.
5. Build to adapt to technical evolution and Penn’s changing needs.
