New Course Action Notice System Coming Soon

August 19, 2022

A new course action notice system in Pennant will soon be available for the Fall 2022 Semester. The former Course Absence Reports (CAR) and Course Problem Notices (CPN), which are no longer available, are being replaced by Course Action Notices and Course Support Notices. Once available, the notices will be easily accessed by instructors from a link in Courses@Penn and by students from a link in Path@Penn.

  • Course Absence Notices (CAN) are messages from a student to instructor or instructors about missing a class meeting.
  • Course Support Notices (CSN) are messages from the instructor to a student about steps the student should take to succeed in a course.
  • Submitted notices will automatically alert the student’s advising office.

Courses@Penn has replaced Courses InTouch as part of the implementation of Pennant, the new student information system at Penn. Courses@Penn provides access to the information and tools instructors need to teach their classes. The Guide to Courses@Penn, information on attending online workshops, and continuing additions to a library of quick reference guides, are available on the Pennant Records Resources & Support page.
