University Catalog Overview

October, 2017



Penn is currently engaged in a project to produce a University Catalog. Starting in May 2017, the Catalog will be released in three phased sections:

  • Phase 1: 2016-2017 (release date: May 2017)
    • Undergraduate Programs
    • Majority of all Penn courses
  • Phase 2: 2017-2018 (release date: May 2018)
    • Graduate Programs (PhD and Research Masters)
    • Complete course listing
  • Phase 3: 2018-2019 (release date: May 2019)
    • Professional Masters and Other Programs (including LPS)

The Catalog is available online at https://catalog.upenn.edu.

Each section of the Catalog will contain the following elements:

Major Elements of the Catalog


Program Information and Requirements – a comprehensive list of programs offered at Penn, including a description of the program and the requirements.

Course Listing – a list all classes currently offered by the university, with a description for each course. This list is publicly available and fully searchable by key terms, department, etc.

Interdisciplinary Opportunities – information about dual degree and interdisciplinary programs.

Policies – a single source of policies related to academic life at Penn, whether the policy is University-wide or varies by school.
